Wonderful Sound Studios™ is a recording studio founded on Día de Muertos (The Day of the Dead), 2014.

The Studios

Wonderful Sound Studios sits on a private 5 acre nature preserve in Chapel Hill (NC) with panoramic water views overlooking a freshwater stream.

Our state-of-the-art studios are utilized for music production and recording, film and television post-production, audiobooks, and voiceover projects.

The studios were designed by architect Robert Warren of the Wes Lachot Design Group and are composed of a blend of modernist materials: charcoal-stained concrete, Brazilian walnut, Black Diamond Velour brick, and stainless steel.

The “Wonderful” Dedication

Wonderful Sound Studios is dedicated to the memory of Wonderful Legacy Asante, a baby boy who passed away from anencephaly in 2014. Wonderful lived 3 days and died peacefully on his father’s chest.

Wonderful’s life span coincided with Día de Muertos, the Mexican holiday which honors the dead. Wonderful was born on the first day of Día de Muertos, October 31st, a day which celebrates deceased children, and died on the final day, November 2nd, which celebrates deceased relatives.

The “Wonderful Sound” Mission

Wonderful Sound is a prominent figure who appears in the sacred Buddhist text, The Lotus Sutra. In Chapter 24 of the Lotus Sutra, we are introduced to Wonderful Sound, a bodhisattva (enlightened being) who uses music to bring about liberation, peace, and joy. Like bodhisattva Wonderful Sound, our mission at Wonderful Sound Studios is to create and share music, sounds, and harmonies that inspire, uplift, and liberate.
